3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Maximum Penetrating Polyurethane Foam Injection Cartridge System Designed For Water Cut-Off And Crack Sealing Applications

POLYFOAM is an innovative polyurethane resin system designed to provide the ultimate solution for water cut-off and void grouting applications. In contact with water, POLYFOAM will rapidly expand up to 40 times its original volume creating a permanent, water-tight seal.

POLYFOAM is packaged in easy to use cartridges that fit any standard manual or pneumatic caulk gun. POLYFOAM eliminates the need for costly equipment and messy cleanups.

Part 1 GENERAL
1.01 WORK INCLUDED
This work shall consist of all labor and materials to inject POLYFOAM Polyurethane Resin Grout by manual low-pressure cartridge dispensing for crack and joint repair In concrete structures of thickness or depth not to exceed 24 inches. Work shall be in accordance with any drawings or specifications furnished by project owner and also as stated herein.

1.02 RELATED WORK
Installer shall examine project to determine suitability and report any deviations. Installer shall wear proper safety equipment including eye protection and rubber gloves and provide sufficient protection to surrounding areas against contact with spilled or excess materials. Ensure that work area is well ventilated with fresh air.

PART 2 MATERIALS
2.01 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS
The approved manufacturer shall be Polygem, Inc.

2.02 ACCEPTABLE MATERIALS Grout shall be POLYFOAM two-component hydrophobic polyurethane resin system of a 1:1 by volume mixing ratio, packaged in either a single 10 ounce two part caulking cartridge or dual component side by side type cartridge systems that utilize a static mixer nozzle to mix and dispense resin.

PART 3 EQUIPMENT
3.01 Equipment
Dispensing equipment can be standard manual or pneumatic caulking guns for single cartridges and dual component manual or pneumatic dIspensing guns for dual cartridge systems. Static mixers nozzles shall be a ¼” by 32 element with locking retainIng nut for dual cartridge mixing and dispensing.

  • Cracks and Joints
  • Pipe Penetrations
  • Basements
  • Tunnels
  • Manholes
  • Mines
4. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
  1. SURFACE
Ensure that the surface of the crack /joint is clean and free of dirt, oils, loose paint, etc.
  2. PROCEDURES
    1. DRY SURFACE - NO SEEPAGE.
Affix surface mounted injection ports directly over the crack or joint with a small amount of epoxy gel adhesive at 10”-12” intervals starting at the base of the wall. Seal around the ports and seal the crack /joint between the ports with additional epoxy gel adhesive. Allow epoxy gel adhesive to cure and harden. Pump a minimum of 2 ounces of clean water into each port
    2. WET SURFACE - ACTIVE SEEPAGE.
Utilize a core drill bit with diameter ¼” larger than the base of the surface mount type injection port to be used. Starting at the base of the wall, core drill directly into the crack /joint to a depth of 1” at 10”-12”. Remove core and insert injection port into core hole. Cement port into core hole with fast-setting hydraulic cement and seal surface of crack /joint with fast-setting hydraulic cement which will direct any seepage out injection ports.
  3. MIXING
Follow instructions on cartridge for mixing and dispensing.
  4. INJECTION
For vertical cracks/ joints begin at the lowest port and for horizontal cracks/ joints start at one end of the crack. Pump resin into port until resin or foam appears and flows from next higher port. Cap the lower port and proceed to inject in the next higher port repeating this procedure until all ports and entire crack /joint Is filled with polyurethane resin grout. Repeat injection sequence starting over at the lowest or first port and pump until resin no longer flows into port.
