3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
GEMCOAT #1163 is a 100% solids, acid and chemical resistant epoxy coating. GEMCOAT #1163 has been formulated to resist various minerals and organic acids, alkalis, sugar solutions, fatty acids, soaps, detergents, animal and vegetable oils. The pigmentable coating is moisture insensitive and designed to cure at room temperature. GEMCOAT #1163 is commonly used to coat wastewater treatment tanks, breweries, dairies, food processing plants, chemical plants, plating plants, battery storage and charging areas.

GEMCOAT #1163 VO is a non-sag version of GEMCOAT #1163 for vertical and overhead applications. GEMCOAT #1163/#1163 VO is avaflable in red, brown or green. In areas exposed to high abrasion or acid, add silica sand, emery or silicon carbide to produce mortars for repair and resurfacing.

4. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Surface should be prepared by using conventional cleaning methods such as shot blasting, acid etching, disc grinding, sandblasting or mechanical abrasion. The surface to be coated should be free of loose materials, paints, sealants or oils. Use #20 solvent to remove oils and dirt.
  2. Blend 3 parts A (Resin) to 2 part B (Hardener). Mix with low speed drill until uniform color appears. DO NOT ADD SOLVENTS! GEMCOAT#1163 VO can be mixed in a separate pail or on a piece of cardboard.
  3. Apply to prepared surface with brush, short nap roller, squeegee or airless sprayer. Maintain temperature of material above 50°F. GEMCOAT #1163 VO can be applied with a trowel, squeegee or putty knife. Do not apply to wet/damp surfaces. Do not apply in humid conditions.
  4. Allow 24 hours @ 75° F for light foot traffic. Clean tools with #20 solvent for best results. When preparing mortar, mix 3 parts aggregate with GEMCOAT #1163 by volume using slow speed mixing paddle until desired consistency is achieved.
