Dear Polygem Customer,

This is to let you know that Polygem, Inc. (West Chicago, IL) has been acquired by Smooth-On, Inc. (Macungie, PA) effective January 2, 2024. The Polygem name will continue, and products will still be manufactured in the West Chicago facility. Jay and Owen Schmid, Dave Turkes, Tabitha Jordan, Bill Jones, and the rest of the Polygem team will be available to answer questions, process orders, etc. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

Polygem, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Bob Parker as a manufacturer of specialty epoxy products. Jay Schmid was General Manager with Polygem for 14 years and acquired Polygem in 2011. Under his guidance, the company continued to expand the product line for applications including fabrication, concrete waterproofing and repair, floor coatings and more. Customers have come to greatly value the Polygem "winning formula" of always putting customers first while delivering the highest quality products possible, without exception. Their emphasis on customer service has resulted in a very loyal user base over the years.

Smooth-On, Inc., is a 129-year-old specialty chemical formulator based near Allentown, PA that manufactures products across various chemistries including epoxies, urethanes, silicones, polysulfides, latex and more. Smooth-On Vice President, Clay Western, states that, "we have always known Polygem as a respected producer in our industry and we see remarkable similarities and a natural synergy between our companies.
